The designer sandal that keeps people running to stores even when they’re going up in price: The Hermès Oran sandals. This Hermès Oran sandal review will delve into the question many have been asking: Are they worth it? Let’s dive in for a full review.
Collected in different colors and leathers, the Hermès Oran sandals have a minimalist “H” design that has made them classic staples. Even with price increases from $600 in 2019 to $760 in 2024, people are still scrambling to get their hands on a pair.
I purchased my first pair of Oran sandals in December 2019 in Paris. I went with one of their most popular and classic colors: the brown ones, or “Gold” in Box Calfskin leather. These were my first pair of designer shoes, and living in Miami, I knew I would wear them all of the time. Now, in August of 2024, I have four pairs in my collection, and they have been the only designer sandal I always reach for.
My second pair was purchased in July 2021 in Milan, and again, I ended up with one of their classic colors: the black, or “Noir” in Box Calfskin leather.
My third pair was purchased in June 2022 in Paris, and this time, I was ready to experiment with colors. I went for a teal green color that was a limited edition color called “Vert Pomme” in Epsom leather.
My fourth and final pair (for now) of Oran sandals was purchased in March of 2023 in Paris. Again, I went with color and chose a hot pink pair, or “Rose Vinicunca” in Box Calfskin leather.
As you can see, I have fallen victim to wanting to collect them in every color, especially when you can wear them with almost everything.
Are they comfortable? For me, 100% YES, once you have broken them in. I bought mine true to size and can walk miles in them. I have noticed that the Epsom leather sandals are more comfortable than the Box Calfskin leather.
Which color should I get for my first pair? I always recommend going for one of their three classic colors first, as they are timeless: brown (gold), black, or white. Then, I think it’s fun to collect the colors, as many are limited edition colors that they won’t sell again.
Which color do you wear the most? My most worn color are my black sandals. If you know me, you know I’m always wearing all black, so I reach for these the most. My second most worn are my brown sandals that I like wearing with whites and neutrals. I reach for my green and pink sandals when I want a pop of color.
Which color are you eyeing? I’ve been wanting to purchase the white sandals because, I feel like just like the black and brown, you can wear them with any outfit. I think the white will be my next Oran sandal purchase. However, I also love the “Jaune Curcuma” yellow color, even though Hermes doesn’t sell them in this color anymore.
How do you style them? With almost anything, especially living in Miami. I throw them on with jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts, trousers, workout clothes… If I’m headed to date night or dinner with the girls, I love wearing a silk slip dress with my Oran sandals, or I can dress them down with a day look with jeans or shorts while I’m running errands. During the summer, they’re definitely in my luggage to Europe, going to the beach with them in the morning, roaming the streets of Rome during the day, and out for aperitivo and dinner at night.
So, are they worth it? In my opinion, yes. Considering that I have tried on multiple designer sandals that are more expensive, uncomfortable, and aren’t as versatile, I think the Hermès Oran sandals are a great staple to add to your closet. Classic design, chic, & available in multiple colors — I think they’re great!!
